Graphically Prototype does well for a sandbox game. The city is vast and object distance is good. Roads are the only thing that doesn't hold up so well. If you are on the ground looking into the distance cars far away blend with closer cars fairly well. However, when soaring through the air, cars in the distance appear flat. On smaller monitors it may not be too noticeable, but on larger screens it can be a little odd looking.

Textures in game are attractive and suitable to the action of the game. They don't hold up to well on close inspection, but while playing the camera will not come close enough to be noticed. Blurred textures only matter if you get close enough to see them. People have mentioned not being happy with the camera following in game, mentioning it can't keep up. I didn't notice this as a problem, but it might be worth noting that others have been bothered by this.

I mentioned earlier that the city felt quite alive. The sheer volume of citizens on screen at any given moment is quite impressive. I see very little drop in frames caused by regular interaction. When the action picks up you will have much more happening on screen. Slower computers may notice a fairly severe drop in frames per second during sections of the game that are especially 'busy'.

So far as functionality is concerned I had no crashes whatsoever while in game, so reliability seems top notch. It's very refreshing to have a game that comes out without any problems for me. I can't speak for others, but I have had no problems in Prototype.

The engine has the odd clipping problem when characters, or objects clip through one another. This is most noticed when hijacking vehicles. The diverse way people and objects interact is quite impressive nonetheless.

As a game in a whole I was impressed with how much I enjoyed Prototype. The feel and fun of the game is above what I expected in every sense. I am not saying it's an award winner by any stretch, but for a pick up and fun game it is exactly what fits the bill.

Prototype does get my recommendation. I only wish there was some included multiplayer to pit your skills against others. But so far as value goes, Prototype is a good value in the current market. Play time is reasonably long with a lot of content to cover.

That pretty much covers everything. It's time to head for the final thoughts.
