Diamond Xtreme Sound 7.1 DDL Sound Card
Package & Contents
Every gamer eventually gets tired of the crap that is onboard sound. I have to admit I am not an audiophile, but I can appreciate the need for at least reasonable quality. I decided to make the move to a better quality sound card. At the recommendation of those who are more into this field, I have stuck on the Diamond Xtreme Sound 7.1 with Dolby Digital Live PCI sound card.
After a couple days of shipping the card arrives:

As you can see there is no frills. There is the card itself, the manual and the software disk. Let's take a look at the card itself:

We can see the options for the 7.1 analog jacks, which will not all be used because I only have a 5.1 system ( Logitech X-540 ). There is also the optical jacks. I will use these for testing hooked up to my amp.

On the card itself you can see the connectors for aux, and cd in. You can also see the C-Media sound chip which is the C-Media CMI8768+ sound chip to be precise, and is my main reason for buying the card.
Let's take a look at the software and installation
